Cat V. Atelier was founded by Cathleen Vallejo (Cat), a GIA-trained gemologist with a belief that every client deserves honest guidance, the knowledge to make informed choices, and individual attention.
Much like she did in creating Alex's Butterflies, Cat can guide you through your own journey of transforming an idea into treasured jewelry that carries deep meaning for you or a loved one. Whether you come to her with a family heirloom, a diamond you've always wondered about, or simply an idea you can't quite put into words yet, Cat brings the same care and expertise to every conversation.

The Collection That Started

At the heart of Cat V. Atelier is Alex's Butterflies — a collection created in memory of Cat's youngest son, Alex, taken far too soon. It was born from love, shaped by grief, and carried forward by the belief that the people we cherish never truly leave us.
In his early college years, Alex once shared with his mom that he felt like he had finally "broken out of his cocoon" and now felt like the butterfly. Those words never left Cat, and they are the reason the butterfly became the atelier's symbol. Alex's love of sunsets lives on in her work too — a warm, golden thread that appears often across her pieces as another quiet way of honoring him.
The butterfly speaks to what Cat believes now more than ever. That beauty, love, and transformation create an indelible bond. That something luminous can emerge from even the darkest moments. That what we make with our hands can carry what our hearts cannot hold alone.
What began as a personal tribute became the emotional foundation of everything Cat V. Atelier creates, curates, and offers to the world.
